Everything you need to know about Google's $600 Free Ads Credit

Google has made a huge announcement that could change the face of marketing for small businesses and it will happen next month!

A free $600 AUD, or its currency equivalent, promotional credit will be offered to eligible Google Ads accounts and here’s how you can claim that credit.

What does this mean?

For anyone unfamiliar with how Google Ads works, Google Ads is a platform where you can promote your business on Google’s search page through keywords. These keywords can range from generic to in detail depending on your brand.

To reach an audience searching for keywords, you have to bid for them. This essentially means that a keyword has a monetary value that increases the more people use it and the more other companies have it listed in their Google Ads as a keyword.

The more popular the keyword, the more expensive it is. That’s why this promotional offer is so exciting, it allows businesses to have a large portion of free credit to advertise in spaces they could not afford prior.

It also means campaigns can be shown to a wider audience, who a small business could not have afforded to have reached prior to this announcement.

How do I know if I'm eligible for the free credits?

Required spend

With every great announcement comes the eligibility. To be eligible for the promotional credits you must have or spent a required amount of $600 AUD or currency equivalent.

New clients must spend above $600 AUD over the first 60 days in order to have the credit applied to their account.

Account requirements

The offer only applies to new accounts and  must also have served its first ads impression within the last 14 days to be eligible. Furthermore, if you have a promotional offer already applied you can not apply for this offer.

Promotional offers must also be switched on for your account to receive this offer too, this means that you are ineligible if you are in a country that does not have promotional offers.

To activate this, open your partners program tab and find the promotional offers card. Then click view details to turn it on and press save once you have confirmed the action.

Management of the account

One of the most important parts of accepting this offer is to have the manager of the account be a Premier Partner or Partner of Google.

Becoming a Google partner means your account has to reach certain requirements. These requirements are set around Performance, Spend and Certifications, marking your company out as in the top percentages of Ads users.

Performance is marked on your optimisation score, the minimum optimisation score is 70% based on client goal reach. You will also have to reach the spend goal of $10,000 USD which has to be maintained over 90 days across all your managed accounts.

In regards to certifications, a minimum of 50% of campaign strategists must be certified with at least one certificate in each area. For most small businesses who do not have time for the certifications or the money to become a partner, they will require an ads management firm to access this money.

How to hire a Google Ads management company

Hiring a marketing firm that specialises in Google Ads may seem simple at first glance. However, finding one that suits your needs can be hard, with marketing firms oftentimes securing you into long contracts that can’t be broken even if you’re not getting desired results.
